What motivates you to run? Running is my passion, it brings me so much joy. Every run makes me feel happy to be alive.

What are your favorite routes for 3 miles, 4 miles and 5 mile and long runs? Sutton Wilderness Trail in Norman is about a 1.5 mile loop that is good for running multiple distances. The University of Oklahoma is a great place to run, you can run a few miles or a lot of miles around this beautiful campus. Lake Hefner in OKC is about a 10 mile loop that is great for long runs. There are also some great paths along the Oklahoma River, as well.
What do you eat before a big race? Oatmeal, toast and honey, or a Clif Bar.
What are 5 tips you would give beginning runners? Start slow with not very many miles and work your way up, don’t push yourself too hard too quickly. Invest in some good running shoes, I recommend Altra. Find a running group to become a part of, most running stores have groups. Let your body rest, I take one day off a week, some runners benefit from more than that, but you have to give your body time to heal. Don’t give up, running is a tough sport, but it can be so much fun and so rewarding.
What are your top tips to completing a half marathon and marathon? Use a training plan, don’t forget to stretch and foam roll, make sure you are eating enough, try to eat healthy foods, make sure you have a good pair of shoes for training and racing, know that finishing the race is an accomplishment in itself.
