Healthy You Grocery List For The Super Busy

Let’s face it, this season of my life is crazy busy and I just don’t have time for a lot of things. I however have learnt that I can not wait until I am an attending to take care of myself and live a healthy life. The benefits of healthy living are just too good to pass up or to wait until I am less busy. Considering I always want to do 100 different things, I need energy to be able to accomplish my goals. I get asked a lot about weight loss and how to live a healthy lifestyle in general. A friend asked me the other day, “I want to lose weight and be healthier, but I can not afford the weight loss programs out there, what can I do on my own?” It requires discipline, but it can be done. You can eat healthy with your regular budget for your family groceries. It’s about sticking to your plan and having a support system. We all need a community to succeed.

Grocery list for a week of clean/healthy eating.

  • Quaker Oats (or your favorite brand)
  • chicken breasts
  • lettuce
  • spinach
  • tomatoes
  • brown rice
  • quinoa
  • strawberries
  • blueberries
  • apples
  • bananas
  • grapes
  • eggs
  • cucumbers
  • avocados
  • canned black beans (or dry if you have time to cook)
  • canned kidney beans (or dry if you have time to cook)
  • greek yogurt
  • low fat granola
  • frozen vegetables
  • lemons or lime (I squeeze some in a gallon of water and drink it through out the day- no juice, no pop/soda)
  • salmon
  • nuts (peanuts, cashews, walnuts, almonds)
  • high fiber cereal
  • skim milk (I use soy milk, almond milk is good too)
  • string cheese or babybel cheese
  • turkey slices
  • Nut butter
  • whole grain crackers
  • whole grain bread
  • cottage cheese
  • Sweet potatoes
  • morning star vegetarian burgers (or your choice)

***If you want to have sadza and veges/meat you can 2 dinners out of the week. I will not deprive you…

    1. I know… but you can do 2 nights/week sad ka.. for first 21 days to reset your body then work it up to 3x/week…lol
